Burma, is there any end?

I have been following news from Burma. It was 2 years ago that I heard the song " unplayed piano". Damine Rice dedicated this piece to Burma, its people and Aung San Suu Kyi. She won the Nobel peace prize in 1991 for her non-violent struggle for democracy and human rights. In 1990, despite detention of Suu Kyi,National League for Democracy party,NLD, won election with 82% of parliamentary seats. The dictator regime refused to recognise results.
Monks have been protesting against the tyrant government and now people are getting killed. It is sad to see there are many countries in the world are run by dictators who do not care about anything but their power!

Life

I am getting by,
Life goes on,
Time flies,
I do not count the days anymore!
Some days when I go to work very early, it is chilly out there,
It reminds me those old days,15 years ago
You said that "life is a dream". Maybe it is. For many people it becomes a nightmare when they wake up!

Going to a town

I recently discovered Rufus Wainwright. He is very talented and has a beautiful voice. I just got new album, "release the stars" . His low key masterpiece, Going to a town is gorgeous. It is political in nature. He shows his disappointment about intolerance, prejudice and,... in America.

I'm going to a town that has already been burned down
I'm going to a place that has already been disgraced
I'm gonna see some folks who have already been let down
I'm so tired of America
I'm gonna make it up for all of the Sunday times
I'm gonna make it up for all of the nursery rhymes
They never really seem to want to tell the truth
I'm so tired of you, America
Making my own way home
Ain't gonna be alone
I got a life to lead, America
I got a life to lead
Tell me,Do you really think you go to hell for having love?
Tell me, And laugh at thinking everything that you've done is good?
I really need to know
After soaking the body of Jesus Christ in blood
I'm so tired of America
I really need to know I may just never see you again Or might as well
You took advantage of a world that loved you well
I'm going to a town that has already been burned down
I'm so tired of you, America
Making my own way home
Ain't gonna be alone
I got a life to lead, America
I got a life to lead
I got a soul to feed
I got a dream to need
And that's all I need
Making my own way home Ain't gonna be alone
I'm going to a town that has already been burned down

Reason, desire and religion

"What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way." Bertrand Russell
